Name of walking trail: The Gloucestershire Way
Length: 100 miles

A 100 mile waymarked route of considerable variety and interest which, in the words of its guidebook author, was conceived on the theme of 'Forest and Vale and High Blue Hill' taken from a Gloucestershire poem by Will Harvey.

The route follows distinctive 'yellow disk' marker posts and crosses almost the full width of Gloucestershire; from the Welsh border town of Chepstow to Tewkesbury. There are three distinct sections; the first through the ancient Forest of Dean (where it passes within easy walking distance of the Fountain Inn); the second section is across the Severn Vale at Gloucester; and the third is across the rolling hills and steep valleys of the Cotswolds as far as Stow on the Wold. Here the route abruptly changes direction to head west, finally descending the Cotswold escarpment to the river Severn at Tewkesbury.

The walk can be broken down into eight easy stages;
Chepstow to Parkend - 13.5 miles
Parkend to May Hill - 14 miles
May Hill to Gloucester - 13 miles
Gloucester to Crickley - 12 miles
Crickley to Salperton - 12 miles
Salperton to Stow-on-the-Wold - 11 miles
Stow to Winchcombe - 13 miles
Winchcombe to Tewkesbury - 11.5 miles
Worcestershire Way Link - 12 miles.
