Name of bike trail: Mallards Pike Loop #1
Difficulty: hard
Length: 10 miles

A 10 mile circuit, with lots of singletrack and most of the climbing in the first half. Suitable for most times of the year (except after very wet weather) however, the area around Mallards Pike is renowned for its Bluebells, making this a fantastic ride to do in late April/May.

Starts with a long climb after Parkend Church, followed by a brief downhill then another climb to Yorkley Lodge. A long, straight, downhill leads you to the entrance of Mallards Pike car park, where soon after you’ll reach one of the Forest’s hardest ‘do-able’ climbs. The infamous south climb to Staple-Edge is a mile-long lung buster, rising 400 feet. The long climb to the top is definitely worth it though, as you’re rewarded with the excellent Lawnmower Downhill Trail. After a brief climb, another downhill, and a short section of fire-road, you’ll soon reach Dr John’s Downhill; a stunning 2 mile section of singletrack with a nice bomb-hole to finish at the top of Parkend.

This trail is not way-marked. We strongly suggest you transfer the trail details to an OS map before setting off. Please ride responsibly and follow the Country Code. Click the tabs above for a trail map, latest weather conditions and photographs.
