A 12 mile circuit, taking in some of the Forest’s gnarliest singletrack and only suitable for very experienced riders. Rideable at most times of the year, but definitely best during the summer months as some sections are very badly affected by wet weather.
Starts off gently, following the family cycle trail to reach Mary-Rose Young’s pottery. After crossing the road there’s a fairly tough climb to Ellwood football field, where the fun begins. Following the single track around the edge of the village brings you onto the Motorcycle Trail; a locally renowned mountain bike trail with some exceptionally tough rocky drops. After climbing back to the start, there’s an excellent, smooth flowing, singletrack leading downhill back towards the pottery, and a couple of steep drops to finish.
Back over the road, and a tough climb later, you’ll reach Broadwell Jumps; a well-known local jump spot with excellent bomb-holes and table tops. Crossing another road leads you to Worcester Lodge and swinging right will take you down the Old Race Track; a tricky downhill section with lots of berms and some stunning views from the top. A few miles down the valley and you’ll pick up the Leat Singletrack, taking you back to Parkend.
